Generation 1
Isaac Winston, born in Virginia, died about 1845. His parents have not been identified but it is thought by this researcher that his mother was Sarah Ann Winston. Her maiden name is not known. Documentation on Isaac Winston's parentage.
In the 1880 census for Madison County, Alabama, Isaac's sons, Isaac and Thomas, list their father's birthplace as Virginia and their mother's as North Carolina.
Numerous deeds are recorded for Isaac Winston in Wilson County, Tennessee for tracts of land on Falling Creek between 1814 and 1828.
He married Nancy Brandon, born 25 Apr 1794 in Burke County, North Carolina, died 26 Sep 1880 in Meridianville, Madison County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Josiah Brandon and Rachel Brown.
The Weekly Independence [A Huntsville Alabama newspaper] dated 30 Sept 1880 contained the following obituary:
Mrs. Nancy Winston, sister of the late Thomas and William Brandon (wife of Isaac) who were well known in the early history of the community, died at the residence of her son, Mr. Isaac Winston near Meridianville in this county Sunday the 26 of Sept 1880. Born in Burke County, NC in 1790, she was the mother of 11 children, 5 of whom have gone before her. When in her 16th year, she became a member of the Methodist Church and for 74 years remained a devout member...was 90 years of age at her death.In a deed dated 24 Nov 1851 [Wilson County, TN Deed Book Y, pgs 390-91] Nancy Winston, William C. Winston, I. N. Winston, Lucy Jane Winston, W. S. Byars, Rachel Byars, Thomas B. Winston and Mary E. Winston sell to Joseph Page 10 acres on Fall Creek.

i. William C. Winston. The Maple Hill Cemetery Sexton's Records for Huntsville, AL by Dorothy Scott Johnson include a William Winston who died of heart failure living in the 2nd ward who died on 26 Mar 1894 at age 79. He would have been born in 1815. He married 20 Feb 1836 in Wilson County, Tennessee Rebecca J. Cason.
ii. Fredonia Rachel Winston, born about 1819 in Tennessee.
iii. Lucy Jane Winston, born about 1820 in Tennessee, died after 1870.
iv. Isaac N. Winston, born about 1822 in Tennessee, died 8 Feb 1884 in Huntsville, Madison, AL, buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama. The cemetery records list Isaac as age 61 at the time of his death. There is no marker on his grave.
v. Elizabeth Winston, born about 1827 in Tennessee, died 1870. The 1870 census of Madison County, Alabama lists Elizabeth Hunt age 49 and Joseph Hunt age 15 living with Nancy Winston. Joseph Hunt age 25 is listed as the nephew of Thomas Brandon Winston in the 1880 census of Madison County, Alabama.
vi. Thomas Brandon Winston, born 1828 in Tennessee, died 6 Jan 1891 in Huntsville, Madison, AL, buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama.
vii. Joseph William Winston, born about 1831.
viii. Mary Elizabeth Winston, born about 1833 in Tennessee, died after 1870. She married 22 Dec 1851 in Rutherford County, Tennessee James Luellen Pryor, born about 1831. Beverly Holsopple has a continuation of this line.
Three of the brothers, Isaac, Thomas and Joseph were in business together as brick manufacturers. A document dated 4 Sept 1868 declares bankruptcy for T.B. Winston & Company & Brothers. [Madison County Alabama Land and Property Records, Assignment Book D, Vol JJ, p264]. Isaac is listed with a wife and 2 children; Thomas had a wife and three children. William C. Winston is listed as one of the creditors and W. A. Hunt as one of the debtors. James N. Blair was evidently part of the company at one time. It was known as Blair, Winston and Company then.

Fredonia Rachel Winston, born about 1819 in Tennessee.
She first married 19 Feb 1835 in Wilson County, Tennessee Ezekial W. Martin, died 1839 in Wilson County, Tennessee.

She then married 2 Jan 1840 in Wilson County, Tennessee Milton S. Byers, born about 1813 in Tennessee.

ii. William Byers, born about 1846 in Wilson County, Tennessee.

Lucy Jane Winston, born about 1820 in Tennessee, died after 1870.
She married 27 Dec 1849 in Wilson County, Tennessee James Leech, born about 1818 in Tennessee. They are listed in the 1870 census residing in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee.

iii. Erastus Leach, born about 1857 in Tennessee. The 1900 census for Murfreesboro, Tennessee lists an Erastus Leach born June 1858 with a wife (Lydia), and two daughters, Louise and Ruby. The Rutherford County Death Records list an Erastus P. Leach dying in 1931.
iv. Albert Leach, born about 1859 in Tennessee.

He married 16 Jan 1847 in Rutherford County, Tennessee Mahala E. Hunt, born about 1826 in Tennessee, died 20 May 1883 in Bell Factory, Madison, AL. Her parents have not been identified.
Obituary from the Democrat dated June 6, 1883 reads: Mrs. Mahala Winston, wife of Mr. Isaac N. Winston died May 20, 1883 at Bell Factory, AL. aged about 57 years. Mrs. Winston was a most exemplary wife & mother & a Christian in the communion of the Methodist Church. Dated May 23, 1883. Died in this county Saturday May 19, 1883 Mrs. Winston, aged wife of Mr. Isaac Winston after a life of devotion and beautiful Christian Deeds.
